About Softstart BTI

Softstart BTI provides an integrated package of work space, shared office services, access to specialized equipment and value added services like management assistance, access to finance, marketing and networking support.

Softstart BTI has full support and sponsorship from the SEDA Technology Programme (STP) a programme under the Small Enterprise Development Agency of the DSBD. STP sponsors the Business Incubation initiative from its inception to fast track the links between the government, private sector and academia of South Africa.

To build an optimal, sustainable business, an entire multitude of building blocks will have to be assembled over time. Softstart BTI assists in doing so by ensuring that the following business development areas are addressed:

Technology

The design and development of the actual products and services that will be delivered to the customer.

Operational

The design, documentation and operation of the business' activities as a professional legal entity.

Market

The understanding of the market in all its aspects and the design and delivery of strategies that will fully exploit the product's and service's potential.

Business

The development of business plans and strategies that will ensure that the venture meets its desired profitability goals; this also includes strategies to access business funding, growth strategies, etc.

    INVITATION TO APPLY FOR BOARD MEMBERSHIP 2025

    Softstart Business and Technology Incubator NPC (Softstart BTI) is a non-profit company (NPC) based in
    Midrand, Gauteng which aims to stimulate, grow, and launch early-stage technology innovation-based
    businesses. In this regard, Softstart BTI provides world-class incubation interventions and knowledge
    services. It is governed by a Board, which plays oversight and has the following sub-committees: Audit,
    Finance and Risk; Human Resources; Enterprise Development; and Land Development.
    Softstart BTI has a footprint of entrepreneurs operating throughout South Africa and has links in Africa
    and beyond through its Hub partners. It also works with partners to develop, drive, and spearhead the
    Fourth Industrial Revolution in South Africa.
    The Incubator seeks to recruit three (3) additional members to its Board, to provide guidance, oversight,
    and support to enable it to realize its strategic objectives. Please note this is a non-remunerative role
    and members are required to serve voluntarily and on an individual basis.
    Applications are sought from potential members who qualify to be a director in line with the Company’s
    Act, with proven experience and expertise in the following areas:

    Softstart BTI is also ideally situated for access to the Gautrain and Grand Central Airport.Gautrain’s Midrand station is between Marlboro and Centurion station and situated adjacent to the Old Pretoria-Johannesburg Road (K101) and South of Grand Central Airport.

    Grand Central Airport (IATA: GCJ, ICAO: FAGC) is a small privately owned airfield which is open to public air traffic. Grand Central is a fully equipped airfield and is open 24 hours a day.
