Softstart Business and Technology Incubator (Softstart BTI) is a government-supported nonprofit company (NPC) based in Midrand, Gauteng which is aimed at stimulating, growing and launching early-stage technology innovation based businesses. In this regard, Softstart BTI
provides world-class incubation interventions and knowledge services. It is governed by a Board, which has the following subcommittees: Audit, Finance and Risk; Human Resources; Enterprise Development; and Land development.

Softstart BTI has a footprint of entrepreneurs operating throughout South Africa and has links in Africa and beyond through its Hub partners. It is also working with partners on a project to develop Africa’s biggest 4iR Hub to drive and spearhead the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The Incubator seeks to recruit two additional members to its Board, to provide guidance, oversight, and support to enable it to realise its strategic objectives. Board members are not entitled to any remuneration for serving on the board and are required to serve voluntarily and on an individual basis.

Applications are sought from potential members who qualify as a director in line with the Company’s Act, with proven experience and expertise in the following areas:

• Entrepreneurship and Innovation ecosystem

Duties

• Support in IT, Desktop User End support, Remote Support
• Installation and Support in client desktop and network environments
• Installation of desktop and network hardware, mapping of client end point devices
• Installations according to set standards and in accordance with policies
• Build and deploy Desktops and Laptops
• Deployment and IT Procurement of new Equipment
• Support for software – e.g. Windows, Office, Pastel, etc.
• Investigate problems and escalate unresolved issues of hardware problems to 3rd party suppliers
• Monitoring and basic administration on email server
• Oversee the LAN and WAN
•  Identifying, troubleshooting and resolving IT Network problems
• Installation and troubleshooting of Routers and Switches
• Configure, monitor and ensure smooth functioning of all IT equipment and systems, not limited to: printers, biometric system, surveillance camera, servers, etc.
•  Liaise wit all 3rd party IT suppliers and monitor contractual obligations
• Update asset register and network diagrams
• Complete job cards in time and accurately
• Participate in various SBTI’s internal structures, processes and initiatives linked to other functional units.
• Management of all IT Assets
• Compile IT reports
